Galbiati Group recently realized a deep hole drilling machine with two spindles for the manufacture of shell and tube heat exchangers for the nuclear industry. The construction of these machines required significant engineering development to hold the close tolerances required for this type of application.
The deep-hole drilling machine, equipped with the BTA drilling system, is intended for the deep-hole drilling of heat exchangers tube plates up to a diameter of 51.7 mm.
The two spindles- deep hole drilling machine in question also has a third spindle for additional processes like milling of the workpiece or drilling of the same using tip inserts up to 80 mm in diameter, with an automatic system for locking/releasing the tool on the spindle.
